  SCHOOL DRESS CODE FOR FACULTY

Conservative, professional dress is required. Loud, unusual, form-fitting, or provocative dress is discouraged. Skirts and dresses should be mid-knee or longer in length. All clothing, including slacks, should be loose fitting. Loose slacks are worn with loose-fitting blouses or jackets. Blouses, shirts, and dresses should not be transparent, tight, low-cut, or sleeveless. This is also true for dresses.

These general guidelines are provided to assist teachers in planning professional wardrobes.

  ATTENDANCE :

Teachers are expected to arrive and sign in at school by 7:00 a.m. each day and to remain at school until 3:00 p.m. Occasional meetings and staff assignments will require teachers to remain at school beyond 3:00 p.m.

Occasional teacher absence is unavoidable, but proper planning will minimize its effect on the students. Teachers must report their absence from school to Assistant Principal as early as possible so a substitute may be employed.

Lesson plans and necessary resource materials, together with any instructions, are to be accessible to the Principal or substitute well before school day begins.

An absence of any length (one period or one day) must be reported to the Principal. Teachers must not leave the campus without the prior approval of the Principal.

  SICK LEAVE:

DEFINITION:

Sick leave is defined to mean an employee inability to perform her duties because she is physically ill or unwell.

POLICY:

The policy on sick leave is defined by the Kuwait Labor Law in the Private Sector to provide for the following:

* First 6 working days of absence = Full salary

* Working days 7 - 12 of absence = 25% salary deducted from each day’s pay

* Working days 13 - 18 of absence = 50% salary deducted from each day’s pay

* Working days 19 - 24 of absence = 75% salary deducted from each day’s pay

* Beyond the 24th day of absence = No salary

The school requires that if a teacher is sick and absent from school more than two days, the teacher must present a doctor's certificate from a government clinic to cover each consecutive day of absence thereafter. If a certificate is not presented for day three and beyond, salary will be deducted. If it is found that any sick days are taken are not legitimate, then deductions are applied. Without a certificate a whole day's salary will be deducted.

  PERSONAL LEAVE:

DEFINITION:

Personal leave is defined to mean leave to accomplish personal, not professional tasks such as doctor's appointments and school conferences and your children's performances. These cannot be accomplished outside of regular school hours .

POLICY:

Personal leave is granted to maximum of 3 days with full pay. You may not take all three days consecutively. These days may not be taken immediately after or before a school holiday in order to extend the holiday. In the event that you wish to do so, you will be docked two days’ salary for all days taken before or after the holiday. For example, if the winter holiday begins on December 22nd and you wish to use the 20th and 21st as personal days then you would be deducted four days salary.

If you would like to leave the building to take care of personal matters for example banking, attending parent conferences etc. it will be deducted from your personal leave time if you need more than 1 period (43 minutes). For example, you wish to attend a parent teacher conference. If your principal approves it then you will be deducted for the time that you spent out of the building. If the conference took two hours then that time will be deducted from the three days of personal leave. You would have 2 days and 6 hours of personal leave left.

All personal leave must receive prior approval by the Principal or her designee and Technical Director. Without prior approval, leave cannot be classified as personal. This policy is for all staff members of AAG.
