Superintendent’s Message
It is very exciting to work in a single gender environment like AAG where our focus is on the nurturance and caring of young girls and women helping each realize their individual potential. Collectively and collaboratively we strive to assist our students to find their place in this world and define the roles they will assume and contributions they will make in their local community. I invite you to browse our web-site and seriously consider being a part of our “AAG Family”, whether as a teacher, student, parent, or interested citizen. All are welcome at AAG!

History
The Al Jeel Al Jadeed Educational Institute opened The American Academy for Girls (AAG) in September 1996 to only 79 students from kindergarten through to grade five. Today, AAG has approximately 860 students from pre-kindergarten through to grade twelve.

The Institute opened its first school, Al Jeel Al Jadeed, a private Arabic school, as one of the first of its kind in Kuwait over 30 years ago with approxiamately 4,000 students currently enrolled. The second school, Al Nasser accommodates 1,000 students from kindergarten through to grade four and is also a private Arabic school. The English Academy, the Institute’s third school, was opened in September of 1991 following the liberation of Kuwait with a student population of 1,000. In 2000, the fourth school, New Zone, was opened as an adult learning center. In the fall of 2001, The American Academy for Girls, was awarded Accreditation by ECIS (European Council of International Schools) and MSA (Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools).

What is Accreditation?
The accreditation process is recognized in international education circles as a highly effective method of initiating and maintaining school improvement, while adhering to established standards.

What is CIS?
The Council of International Schools (CIS), registered in the United States and administered by a professional staff in the U.K., serves hundreds of schools around the world and has been accrediting schools since 1970.

What is MSA?
The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) is an American agency that accredits schools in the mid-east coast region of the USA as well as schools in Asia and the Middle East, that satisfy the guidelines and standards set forth for a U.S. type educational program.

What does this mean for you?
The fact that a school is accredited provides members of the community with assurances that the school has achieved high standards of professional performance and is committed to school improvement. The accreditation cycle begins with the submission of a one-year report, action plans and evaluation reports. A five-year review and a major ten-year evaluation are components of this on-going self improvement and quality assurance process.
